They should hire Burke. Actually wish a team like Ottawa or another rival would get him.

Dave Nonis is the next GM of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Unclear whether that is interim or unconditional appointment

Oh man. Thanks for making us Islander fans feel better, Toronto!

What are the odds of being replaced by the same guy twice.

I don't get it. Sure the Leafs sucks but Burke is rebuilding the team. I even thought he'll turn it around next season when they have a load of cap free. Way too early to get rid of him, IMO.

Burke kept on as senior advisor. My guess that would have meant a lot to Nonis before accepting the GM job.

They said that the new ownership did not like Burke's style. Ouch...does that mean they don't like "tough" team?

Dave Nonis just said he wants to make the team tougher, so that wouldn't have been the reason. I'm guessing they referring to Burke's way of dealing with the media. Also, Burke has always said he wasn't willing to take orders from owners so that could have played a role as well.

Wow did they really just say they wanted a "corporate GM"? It's hockey assholes, stay the **** out of it.

Aside from favoring a tougher lineup, I have always thought Burke was overrated as hell. I wouldn't be too upset if I was a Leafs fan. He didn't do jack while he was there.

in a pussified league like the nhl its always good to have a gm like brian burke... this is a lost for the old school hockey fans, some of burkes decisions were bd but overally he was sharing the same mentality than most of us...

bye bye colton orr...
