This must mean that Mike Brown is going to be out for quite a while. I like the move, though.

Ditto... Brown must have a an injury that's going to have him out at least a month. This is a great acquisition IMO. Toronto picks up a tough player that is big around 6'4" 220lbs that can play. McLearn is a second tier HW in terms of fighting but is a good second guy that will compliment Orr and Brown (mw)if need be. Now Lets hope he stays with leafs.

Hmm. Brown is out for a bit, Orr still has flu, they recalled Hamilton, so..I don't get it, but I love it. Leaf or Marlie, hope he sticks.

I'm sure Randy Carlyle had something to do with this move. Good pickup.

good for frazer to get out of the sharks organization. maybe TOR will actually play and develop him now instead of dicking him around like the sharks did.

Toronto isn't messing around this year... Orr, Brownie and McLaren in the Organization is just scary... Backed up by Fraser and a few other spark plugs is making me feel all funny inside Leaf fans!
Compare that to the likes of the pu$$y Western Conference Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames makes me wish I had a different address! Throw in the Dallas Stars and they can compete with the Women's Hockey Leagues for toughness! My Hawks and the Avalanche in my opinion has got it made... as for they're injuries and O'Reilly holdout.. they are going to have a long half year! |

Pleasantly surprised by this move. It will be interesting to see how they use him. My guess is he is just short term insurance in case Brown misses a significant amount of time and he will end up back in the AHL once Brown is healthy, basically he would just be replacing Jay Rosehill. At the moment the only real they have that they could call up from the minors is Jamie Devane and he is nowhere near ready for the NHL.
Hopefully I'm wrong and they are planning on keeping him even when Brown is back because a lineup that includes Colton Orr, Frazer McLaren, Mark Fraser and Mike Brown would be great to see. Last edited by grits207; 01-31-2013 at 02:47 PM. |

A move to take Browns place who is out at least a week with a shoulder injury. He got it in the Weber scrap in Buffalo. This was reported on the Fan590 in Toronto. Once Brown is back I can't see all three in the lineup though.

Man, I love Randy Carlyle. This is what he had to say after the pick up:
“I just think it’s part of the game that’s there day in, day out,” Carlyle said. “I don’t look at the statistics as far as it spiking. I look at it as a way that certain people approach preparing your team. And when there’s confrontation and contact, at times those do spoil over into fighting. “I think it’s a part of the game that won’t go away. There’s people that want it out of the game, but I don’t think it’ll go. I just think it’s a fact of life in the NHL. If you’re going to go out there and you’re going to run around, it’s going to force confrontation. Sometimes people try to take advantage of your skilled players. And you have that deterrent. “You see it through the waiver wire and whatnot this year; there are teams that have acquired those players that historically didn’t have them.” Wish more coaches would have that philosophy.

Colton Orr, Mike Brown, Mark Fraser and now Frazer McLaren? Wow!
Some teams can't even match just one of these 4 guys! lol! Fraser will be the odd man out at some point, he'll be joining the Marlies.
