With Giroux heading to Berlin, four of the five top scorers have headed overseas during the lockout. Evgeni Malkin and Ilya Kovalchuk have signed with teams in the Russian-based KHL while Jason Spezza is in Switzerland. Only Steven Stamkos has yet to make overseas arrangements.

I'm sorry, I'm starting to hate these greedy bastards that are going to Europe while the real victims of the lockout, the regular Joe's that work at the arenas selling tickets, food, merch, the janitors, etc are getting laid off. They can't just hop on a jet to another job. And also, these players are taking away the jobs of other players. Nice way to show solidarity and support.

This must be one of the most spot-on opinion I've seen on the lock-out since the begining of all that sh*t.

The guys flying to Europe are pretty different from these guys playing for the charity stuff, meeting the kids in their low-budget arenas around the province.

That is a very cool thing that they are doing. That probably means a lot to the kids up there.

This is not confirmed yet, altough their agent said they would head to Germany and also Giroux confirmed that he would play in Germany if heading to Europe.
The Eisbären Berlin did not confirm any kind of contract either.

Meanwhile TJ Galiardi has signed with Bietigheim of the German 2nd league.
Jamie Benn to Hamburg Freezers (DEL, Germany)

Claude Giroux and Danny Briere are bound for Germany.

The Philadelphia centres have signed with Eisbaren Berlin of Germany's top league for the duration of the NHL lockout, according to ESPN.com.

The website says veteran agent Pat Brisson, who represents both players, confirmed the signings.

That is the saddest part of the lockout for me.

As for the players, I cannot believe anyone actually felt sorry for them. Shows you how much they care about their fellow brothers.

I can only hope the owners get every single thing they are asking for, and more.

it is a nice way to show solidarity. it tells the nhl to f off and they have other places they can play.
Its very sad for the average joe and all the other local businesses affected by it.

I mean they are taking jobs away from 3rd and 4th liners in Europe who are earning a shítty paycheck, just barely scraping by. Most of these players are making millions in the NHL. Why do they need to go over there to steal another player's job? That's the lack of support and solidarity I'm talking about.
