im not sure how this works.. if the league decides to play are the listed players commited to playing for the whole season, or do they come back to their NHL teams?

I think that referred to taking players that are not Russian. Any Russian is of course allowed in the KHL.

This is all part of the owners plan, give them a couple of weeks dealing with the corruption of that bush league (KHL) and the players will be begging to take a lower % than they've already turned down to come back.
