Didn't Tampa try this Matt Carle fella out a few years ago?

I've hated on Carle for 2 years now due to his lack of defensive play. However, given what everyone else has signed for in the last few day this isn't that bad a deal IMO. The guy has decent skill and who knows, his defensive mishaps could be magnifide by the system he's in and the fact there's never been anyone back in net to bail him out from these mishaps.

Yes. Dont know why hes so overrated. Pretty good defensivly but not that good of a skater, terrible shot, dont hit and got beat up by Sean fking Avery.

Flyers 2001, Why not just keep Walker and his 1 1/2 cap hit at least he plays physical. He gives you something on D you dont have., Instead of signing a bum like B. Gervais who you have 3 of already. He is small, not gifted offensively and brings nothing new to the table.. He is a wasted roster spot IMO.

What does Walker give you on D that you don't have? Someone that fights? They traded for Schenn and added Grossman last year to add the much needed physicality. They also expect Coburn to play the way he did late in the season and playoffs.

The issue with Walker is that he has not been healthy over the past 18 months.

Bourdon is struggling with concussion issues, Gus still needs to put on weight and be more consistent, Manning is not ready over the long haul, and they know Lilja is not the answer.

They need another body.

I am releived that they are not overpaying for free agents this year. I want them to put the best product on the ice, but they would really handcuff themselves when a much better crop of FA's are availible next year. The goal this year is to watch the young kids grow. When you add a couple FA's in 2013-2014 will be the make it or break it year, IMO.

With expiring contracts the Flyers would have plenty of money to go after multiple FA's, after locking G up:

Iginla, Elias, Perry, Getzlaf, Lupul, Horton, Roy, Zajac, Enstrom, Clarkson, Burrows, Stewart, Weber

Same franchise that came within 1 win of the SCF season before last.

Yzerman knows what he is doing but look at the talent pool, it's dreadful and a guy like Carle looks like a good player compared to so much sh1t in this league, it's ridiculous. Too many teams.

I think it's too much. Is Carle better than Kubina who they could sign with one call for 3-4 million less per season? If he is, it's not much. Carle and Kubina were not the problem in Philly and I will give you 3 guesses what was but you only need 2.
