Lightning Recall Dingman from Springfield

The 2004 Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning have recalled left wing Chris Dingman from Springfield of the American Hockey League today, it was announced by Executive Vice President & General Manager Jay Feaster. The team also re-assigned right wing Darren Reid to the Falcons.

Dingman, 29, has appeared in 15 games with the Lightning this season recording eight penalty minutes. A native of Edmonton, Alberta, he has skated in 154 games with Tampa Bay during the past four seasons and scored three goals and 13 points. He skated in 23 games during the 2004 Stanley Cup playoffs, scoring one goal and adding one assist. In 27 games with Springfield this season Dingman has scored eight goals and added eight assists.

The 6-foot-4, 235-pound winger was acquired from Carolina with Shane Willis in exchange for Kevin Weekes on March 5, 2002.

Reid, 22, has recorded five goals, seven assists and 43 penalty minutes in 31 games with Springfield this season. The 6-2, 205-pound native of Lac La Biche, Alberta, has appeared in seven games and recorded one assist with the Lightning this season. Selected by the Lightning in the eighth round, 256th overall, at the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Reid is in his second season with the Falcons after playing three seasons with Medicine Hat of the Western Hockey League.

From my recollection, Chris Dingman didn't fight ONCE when he was down with Springfield. But then again, when you have Mitch Fritz on your team, who needs to fight!

Great to see an "enforcer" get recalled, but why the hell does it have to be Dingman?

Good character? Have you met Boots? He's not the only criminal NHL owner... What has this league become...

That is correct, he didn't have one fight.

Springfield's FM list this season:
Mitch Fritz 17

Andre Deveaux 4
Darren Reid 3
Jay Rosehill 3
Mike Egener 2
Luke Egener 1
Jason MacDonald 1
Ray Schultz 1

Dingman's better than nothing, I guess, but he's not even really a fighter any more. 16 points, but 0 fights. Maybe he finally got the idea in his head that he can't fight, never has been able to fight, and he'd be better off trying to be a viable fourth liner instead of a goon.

Why not Fritz? Dingman has done NOTHING to warrent a call up, 0 fights?
Reward someone like Fritz for doing ALL the dirty work on a very soft team and call him up. Not some lazy, "I was good one day so now I'll loaf" bum!
That is one more reason why hockey $ucks today!!
