Lightning Reassign Konopka to Norfolk

TAMPA BAY, FL - The Tampa Bay Lightning have reassigned Zenon Konopka to Norfolk, it was announced today by Lightning Executive Vice President and General Manager Brian Lawton.

Konopka, a 6-foot-1, 213-pound center, appeared in three games with Tampa Bay after being recalled on December 10, posting 17 penalty minutes. He made his Lightning debut on December 10 in Buffalo.

Well, he sure made a good impression with all of us during his very active brief stint in the NHL, but it was only a matter of time I guess before Tampa sent him back to the A. Hopefully he makes another appearance with the Lightning this season.

Downie, Smolenek, and now Konopka have all been sent down... In succession... Are the Tampa owners (or Brian Lawton, GM) at it again?? Why can't they just let the coach run the team...

I hope this means Koci is close to returning (I doubt it though).

Hopefully this isn't the last of Konopka that we see.

No, it just shows that Melrose and Tocchet are no different. They both either are puppets or are wusses w/ the lineups they choose to dress.
