TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Lightning have re-signed forward Mike Angelidis to a one-year, two-way contract, Vice President and General Manager Steve Yzerman announced today.

Angelidis, 26, played in six games with the Lightning last season, recording one goal and five penalty minutes. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound forward scored his first career goal in his NHL debut with the Lightning on January 24 versus the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Woodbridge, Ontario native also played in 54 games with the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League this past season, posting 14 goals and 27 points to go along with 135 penalty minutes. He ranked second on the club in penalty minutes and tied for eighth in goals. The Admirals captain helped lead Norfolk to its first Calder Cup Championship in 2012. Angelidis recorded one goal and six points in 18 games during the Calder Cup playoffs.

Angelidis has played in 369 career AHL games with Norfolk and the Albany River Rats, collecting 76 goals and 150 points, to go along with 760 penalty minutes. He has also skated in 40 career Calder Cup Playoff Games, collecting three goals and 14 points.

I'm surprised this guy hasn't found a role on a fourth line yet. He definitely has the character, skill set and toughness to be a good fit for the Lightnings' 4th line.
