He'll be a solid mentor and strong, stabilizing influence for Hedman too, don't forget. I'll bet anything that was a huge driving force for Tampa in getting Matty.

I like this deal a lot for the lighting. Good signing!

The length is a little over the top, but Ohland will be a top 2 blue liner, and a great mentor for #2 pick Victor Hedman.
From the times I saw him play, he doest seem soft at all. If memory serves he even dropped em with Shane O'brien. |

Good price tag for Ohlund.
As mentioned, I think, I can't remember which thread I'm reading with all the tabs open right now. He's far from soft. He will on occasion back up his hits, and he isn't too bad with the mitts off. He will provide a rock solid presence on the blue line, and is more than willing to engage in front of the net, corners or stand guys up. For 7 years, I can see the initial shock to it... but Matty has generally been a healthy guy, even as of late when the wars in the NW have picked up. I say its a good signing for the Bolts. Just pissed I won't get to see him 6 times a year now...

Yeah, thats another element of the Canucks/Wild rivalry thats bit the dust now. But there's still plenty to hate on both sides - especially if the Canucks do sign Gabby and Schroeder makes the lineup in the next couple years....
