Lightning Acquire Benoit Pouliot From Bruins
The Tampa Bay Lightning acquired forward Benoit Pouliot from the Boston Bruins in exchange for forward Michel Ouellet and their fifth round selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced today.
Pouliot, 25, played in 74 games with the Boston Bruins last season, collecting 16 goals and 32 points to go along with 38 penalty minutes. The Alfred, Ontario native set career highs in goals and points last season. Pouliot ranked third on Boston in game winning goals with five and eighth in goals and plus/minus (+16). He also skated in seven playoff games with the Bruins, posting a goal and two points. The 6-foot-3, 199-pound, forward has skated in 257 career NHL games with the Bruins, Minnesota Wild and Montreal Canadiens, collecting 53 goals and 104 points. He was originally selected by the Wild in the first round, fourth overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. Last edited by chilly666; 06-24-2012 at 08:36 PM. |

Bruins weren't going to re-sign Pouliot since Jordan Caron is taking his spot in the lineup. Pouliot was a restricted free agent, so the B's decided to get at least something for him rather than nothing.
Ouelett should spend next season in Providence. |

Vinny has been rumored to go to Montreal every season for about 10 years. He likes it here, he told me so. I'd die if all those vaginas played for the Lightning.

Benoit was kind of streaky with the Bruins last year. He really picked things up when brian Rolston came aboard and they joined Chris kelly. that line did a fine job for us. He has size but he's not physical. He had a couple of beautiful H/L reel goals for us last year. A few times Julien would have to light a fire under his a55 to get him going. I think he gave him the healthy scratch routine once or twice to spark him. he would respond though. I wasn't overly impressed when we first signed him but he was a decent player. when he came to boston there was questions about him and whether or not he'd ever live up to his potential. i believe he was drafted high by montreal but wasn't panning out. I was hoping he would blossom with us and prove some people wrong -particularly montreal haha. best of luck in TB. he can be a solid contributor on the 3rd line.
