Leafs Sign Moore, Mitchell and Scott

Cliff Fletcher, general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Thursday that the hockey club has signed forwards Dominic Moore, John Mitchell and Greg Scott.

Moore, 27, signed a one-year contract with Toronto. He joined the Maple Leafs after being acquired off waivers from the Minnesota Wild last season. In 38 games with Toronto, Moore registered four goals and 10 assists for 14 points, along with 14 penalty minutes and a plus-seven rating. In his NHL career, he has played in 224 games for the Rangers, Penguins, Wild and Maple Leafs recording 55 points (22 goals, 33 assists) with 108 penalty minutes. He was originally the New York Rangers’ second choice, 95th overall in the 2000 Entry Draft.

The Maple Leafs also announced the signing of John Mitchell to a two-year contract. Mitchell played in 79 games for the American Hockey League’s Toronto Marlies this past season and earned professional career-highs in goals (20), assists (31), points (51) and penalty minutes (56). The 23-year-old native of Waterloo, Ontario led the Marlies in both regular season goals and playoff goals (8), as the Marlies advanced to the Calder Cup Conference Final. The Maple Leafs selected the 6-2, 205-pound Mitchell in the fifth round, 158th overall in the 2003 Entry Draft.

Greg Scott signed a three-year entry level contract with the Maple Leafs. The 20-year-old native of Victoria, B.C., played in 72 games for the Seattle Thunderbirds of the Western Hockey League this season recording a career-high 75 points (38 goals, 37 assists) along with 56 penalty minutes. In 2007-08, the 6-0, 188-pound left-winger led the entire WHL with a plus/minus rating of plus-40. During the playoffs, he played in 12 games, adding five goals, four assists and nine points.

i like the title, curious of the price. God I hope it's cheap. I liked how this lil ****er played, didn't cost a lot and was fun to watch. I dont mind this signing, hopefully its two way. Seriously, and he's young, only been in the league 5+ seasons.

But ya whatever...I can't sugar coat ****.

About time we signed our enforcer :B)
Dont mind this guy but we've had a team full of Moore's/Deveraux's/Pohl's etc etc for the past two/three years.

Is it possible that the Leafs will be as weak this year as they were last? They lost Tucker and added Mayers, that's about all the toughness they have so far, not counting Newbury and Ondrus who might not be full-time NHL.

Not much for Leaf fans to get excited about.

Eh Leafs, could use a little sandpaper with some of these signings..? Moore, Hagman and Grabovski are quite possibly the three biggest ******* the game of hockey has ever seen! They will join the gritty cast of Ponikarovsky, Steen, Stajan, Devereaux, Antropov, J. Blake, Tlusty, Kulemin and most likely both of J. Williams and Robbie Earl up front!

On defence so far is even more physically frightening than the forward crew with the predicted loss of McCabe, The opposition forwards must tangle with the likes of Strahlman, Kaberle, White, Colaiacovo, Kubina and Kronwall!

With the loss of Tucker, Belak, Kilger amd Hal Gill from last year's squad aswell as Ben Ondrus and Jay Harrison moving on from the Marlies. The only players on this team that will show an ounce of grit will be Mark Bell, Jamal Mayers, Kris Newbury and Jeff Finger. I look forward to an entertaining year of finishing last place and having 20-25 fighting majors as a team!

Wake me up when they sign someone who will actually win a fight this year.

Damn I thought they signed John Scott for a second.
