Leafs Sign Colton Orr
Brian Burke, president and general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Wednesday that unrestricted free agent Colton Orr has signed with the club. The right-winger signed a four year contract with the Maple Leafs.
Orr, 27, appeared in all 82 games for the New York Rangers in 2008-09 and recorded a goal and four assists while leading the team with a career-high 193 penalty minutes. His penalty minute total was the third-highest in the NHL behind Daniel Carcillo (Coyotes/Flyers) and Shane O’Brien (Canucks). In 245 career NHL games with the Bruins and Rangers he has collected four goals and seven assists to go along with 549 minutes in penalties. The 6-3, 222-pound native of Winnipeg, Manitoba was originally signed by the Boston Bruins as a free agent on September 19, 2001 and he was claimed on waivers by New York on November 29, 2005. |

$1 million/year
good signing, but i dont think he's worth a million bucks a year. maybe 800-850K or so. |
Yes Burkie!
Yeah 4 years is a long deal for an enforcer, tough to pass that up. |
Burke gets his enforcer! I'm happy for Orr and the fans of the Leafs.
I think I may actually start rooting for the Leafs....
great signing
Seward was right. That is a pretty big offer, four years is unusually long for an enforcer. But Burke got his man.
HELL YES!!!! One of my favorite enforcers to one of my favorite original six teams. Kick ass. I can't wait till the Devils play Toronto now.
that's great for Toronto just the guy they needed... and 4 years will let him build an identity, something the Leafs needed in a tough guy with Domi/Belak gone
god damn you toronto
Welcome back to the Northeast Division!!
