Leafs Return Kadri to Junior; Assign Three to Marlies

Brian Burke, president and general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Sunday that the hockey club has reduced their training camp roster by four players. The Leafs have returned forward Nazem Kadri to the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League, assigned forward Christian Hanson and defenceman Jonas Frogren to the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, and released defenceman Andy Rogers.

Kadri played in six preseason games for the Leafs collecting three goals and two assists for five points, while earning a plus-six rating. In the preseason Hanson registered one goal and two assists in six games, Frogren recorded six penalty minutes in three games, and Rogers accumulated 25 minutes in penalties in four games.

catch 22 IMO. bad news he's not on the team b/c he played like he belonged, good news is if the leafs are letting a kid like kadri go back to JR's they got some good years ahead for this franchise

So Rosehill, Bozak, and Stalberg made it? The Leafs were making their final roster moves today.

I think the final cuts will be Gunnarsson, Bozak, MacDonald, Allison(released), Wallin(waivers).. How many does that leave?

Kadri is going to be one awesome NHL player, alot of teams who picked earlier will be sorry they didnt choose him in about 5 years.

He should bulk up a bit, then he'll be unstoppable.

Wilson said last week that Wallin all but locked up a spot. Wishful thinking by me would be that they cut Stempniak and are somehow able to get rid of his salary. Wishful thinking tho...

I'm happy with these cuts. These guys were in tough to make it, but they played well (did Frogren? I don't remember seeing him).

I'm really glad they're giving Kadri another year in junior. The guy is too small, another year in the OHL won't hurt.

Smart move to send Kadri down IMO. If they would have kept him the retarded Toronto media would be watching him closely all year and the second he would have f*cked up they would be all over him.

They got lucky last year that Schenn was able to handle the pressure but most 18 year olds aren't that mature.

Frogren was decent but not good enough to seperate himself from all the other d-men.

I think Bozak will start out in the AHL and Stalberg and Rosehill will start in the NHL.

I also wouldn't be surprised to see a trade in the next month or so to try and make some room for the young guys.
