Leafs Recall Matt Frattin, Assign Jay Rosehill To AHL

Brian Burke, President and General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Saturday that the hockey club has recalled forward Matt Frattin from the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League and assigned forward Jay Rosehill to the Marlies.

Frattin, 24, has appeared in 37 games for the Maple Leafs this season, registering five goals, five assists, 10 points, two penalty minutes and a plus-two (+2) rating. The 6-0, 200-pound native of Edmonton, Alberta has also collected 16 points (12 goals, four assists) with 20 penalty minutes in 21 games with the Marlies in 2011-12.

Rosehill, 26, has appeared in 16 games with the Maple Leafs this season, posting 21 penalty minutes and eight shots on goal.

I don't like seeing Rosie go down but realistically he has done almost nothing in the games he has played in to warrant staying. He hasn't enforced at all.

Frattin has torn it up since being sent down and will bring some energy to a team that's just going through the motions right now. He never takes a shift off and if he ever starts finding his spots when shooting he'll put up some numbers. The Leafs are better off with him in the lineup.

Hopefully by Monday Burke can toughen up this bunch of ladies though I'm not holding my breath

He's going to get dangled as trade bait and if he's in the NHL I assume it's easier to move him.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's gone by Monday afternoon and Rosehill is recalled.
