He's failed everywhere he's been.

Burke does something to keep his job, for awhile.

Oh Burkie...he gives the bum an extension, then he goes with the soft lineup and the team fails miserably, and now he fires him. Great job managing this franchise...not! This is great news, but he should be next!

I don't think he's a terrible coach. After all, he coached the Caps to their only appearance in Cup final in 98. But he seems to be only good enough to last with a team for only so long before he wears out his welcome. And lately, with the Leafs losing, he was always blaming the goaltending as the cause and not the team as a whole.

He always had a tough line-up with the Ducks

2 Scoring Lines
1 Checking Line
1 Energy Line [occasionally stocked with some scorers]

The year they won the cup, George Parros - Ryan Shannon - Shawn Thornton was one of his 4th line combinations.

Carlyle just named coach...and yes he does like a tough lineup. My question now is Burke. Was it all Wilson who wanted to go soft or did Burke completely change his philosophy?

If not Orr, Rosehill should definitely see playing time. I watched many Ducks games with Carlye as coach and he always had a good, tough lineup.

The GM gets the players and the coach plays the players the GM gets. If its any other way in Toronto then what exactly does Burke do?

What took them so long? He should have been fired after last season. The guy just flat-out sucks as a head coach. Carlyle may be what they need to light a fire under their asses and get into the playoffs, but they have a tough hill to climb.

Burke follows the coach's lead.

Wilson had his choice of Phillipe Dupuis and Colton Orr on the 4th line and continuously went with a scrub in Dupuis. The same thing happened with him playing Joey Crabb instead of Jay Rosehill.

It became apparent that Wilson wasn't going to dress a tough guy of their nature (mainly 1 dimensional) and would rather opt for someone much less physical with a little (I stress the word LITTLE) more of a skill set on his 4th line.

Burke followed the coaches (warped) lead and sent Orr and Rosehill down to the A. When callups were needed, the softer players Wilson ejaculated over were called up instead. Why bring Orr or Rosehill up knowing Wilson won't play them?

Wilson wanted a soft 4th line, was given one, and he played it. If Carlyle talks to Burke about wanting to take a physical 4th line approach, I think there's little doubt Burke would supply him the arsenal.
