Leafs Acquire Aaron Voros From Anaheim

Brian Burke, President and General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Tuesday that forward Aaron Voros has been acquired from the Anaheim Ducks. In exchange, the Ducks receive a conditional seventh-round draft pick in the 2011 Entry Draft. Voros will report to the Toronto Marlies today.

Voros, 29, appeared in 12 games (0g, 0a) with Anaheim in 2010-2011 and recorded 43 minutes in penalties. He joined the Ducks in a trade from the Rangers with Ryan Hillier for Steve Eminger on July 9, 2010.

Voros has 18 goals and 19 assists in 162 career NHL games with the Wild, Rangers and Ducks

Good deal. I wonder if he'll be in the lineup against the Bruins tonight? It would be a whole lot cooler if he was. :approve:

He's reporting to the Marlies, not the Leafs.

Do a youtube search on him. He's a serviceable MW. Very willing.

Burke said they're calling up Christian Hanson.

Weird that they didn't claim him, but traded a 7th for him anyway. I know he has to be waived again after claiming if you want to send him down but still. Hopefully he plays more physical for the Marlies than Jeff Cowan has since he showed up in town.

I tended to like Voros during his short tenure with the Wild, as he was a mucker and grinder and the kind of blue collar guy you root for. He is by no means the most intimidating MW, and will lose more often than not, but he was usually willing. And when we had Boogs, there were very few that were willing to dance with him, so it was nice to have someone to step in and provide some entertainment. He also had the slightest of scoring touch, and spend some time on a line with Gaborik, providing him some breathing room and potting a few goals of his own.

But, as jkidd as pointed out in the past, once he started scoring he forgot what got him to the show in the first place and tried to be something he wasn't - a scorer. I think he is a good character guy to have on a 4th line and someone that would be willing to stick up for his teamates, but I am starting to question as to whether or not he is really NHL material.

He is a cancer survivor, and as such I think I was pulling for him a bit more than I should have. But like i said, he is a good guy and not a waste of a spot as long as you aren't paying him all that much.

Very hard to get a feeling about what is going on in TO. I cannot stand the idea of Boston getting another great draft pick...

Well, you better get used to it! :D;)

Anaheim only get's the pick if Burke re-signs him at the end of the year, which he won't.

The Marlies needed a warm body and some grit in the absence of Rosie and so many other guys up with the big club.
