Komisarek returns tonight

Quote:
Itching to return from the moment he went on the shelf, Mike Komisarek will be on the ice tonight when the Habs host the Flyers.

A spectator and part-time coach since suffering a shoulder injury on Nov. 13, Komisarek missed 16 games while recovering. His teammates went 7-6-3 during that stretch and are currently on a three-game slide.

“The doctors liked what they saw,” he said. “They put their stamp of approval on my file. I’m good to go tonight.”

The original plan was to have Komisarek return in time for the Canadiens’ three-game road trip at the end of the month. It would seem that Santa Claus slipped a little something under his tree a week ahead of schedule.

“I’m really anxious to get back out there,” added Komisarek. “Christmas came early for me this year; I’m back to 100%. The team gave me all the time I needed to get healthy and back into top shape.”

Though he appreciated his eight-game stint benhind the bench, the 26-year-old is looking forward to trade in his suit and tie for his skates and stick.

“Josh and I didn’t need to draw any straws,” said Komisarek of Josh Gorges, who filled in alongside Andrei Markov while he was out. “Josh was solid and really stepped up with the added responsibilities. I tip my hat to him.”

It will be nice to have the heart and soul of the defense, and the next Habs captain, back on the blueline. Komisarek is the physical monster they have been missing back there, hope he isn't gun-shy after the Lucic fight. Welcome back, Big Mike!
