Kings Sign Andrew Campbell to Three-Year Entry-Level Contract

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings have agreed to terms on a three-year entry-level contract with defenseman Andrew Campbell, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today. Campbell was the club’s third round selection (74th overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Campbell, 20, recently finished his first training camp with the Kings and he was assigned to the Manchester Monarchs, the Kings’ American Hockey League affiliate, on September 29.

Campbell, a 6-4, 196-pound native of Caledonia, Ontario, played with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) during the 2007-08 season. In 68 regular season games with the Greyhounds that year, he totaled 35 points (13-22=35) and 64 penalty minutes while posting a plus/minus rating of plus-20, good for fifth on the team. In addition, his 13 goals and 22 assists each ranked second among club blueliners in 2007-08 as did his 35 points and seven power play goals. Campbell also skated in all 14 postseason games for the Greyhounds, collecting five points (2-3=5), 13 penalty minutes and a team-leading plus-13 rating during the 2008 OHL playoffs.

Campbell also played with Sault Ste. Marie during the 2006-07 season and he registered 18 points (4-14=18) and 75 penalty minutes in 63 regular season games that year. He also skated in an additional 13 postseason games while registering one point (0-1=1) and six penalty minutes during the 2007 OHL playoffs.
