Kings Recall Loktionov and Segal; Place Smyth on IR
LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings have recalled forwards Andrei Loktionov and Brandon Segal from the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today. The Kings also placed forward Ryan Smyth on the injured reserve list (retroactive to November 17).
Loktionov, 19, is currently Manchester’s team leader with 17 points and 11 assists (6-11=17) in 20 games. His 17 points is tied for third most among AHL rookies, while his 11 assists are second among AHL freshman. He also has a plus-6 rating, tied for ninth among rookies. Loktionov, playing in his first professional season, will wear No. 48 with the Kings. He would be the 15th youngest player to appear in a game for the Kings and the 18th teenager to play for the Kings all-time. The 5-10, 179-pound native of Voskresensk, Russia was selected by the Kings in the fifth round (123rd overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. Segal, 26, has recorded 14 points (6-8=14) and 34 penalty minutes in 21 games with the Monarchs. His 14 points, eight assists and 34 penalty minutes all rank third on the club. Segal appeared in his first two games in the NHL last season with Tampa Bay. He also appeared in 69 games with the AHL’s Norfolk Admirals, recording 52 points (26-26=52) and 95 penalty minutes. He was named to the 2009 Canadian AHL All-Star Team last season as well. The 6-2, 209-pound native of Richmond, British Columbia was signed by the Kings as an unrestricted free agent on July 13. He will wear No. 49. Smyth, 33, has missed the Kings’ last two games due to an upper-body injury. In 22 games with the Kings this season, his first with the club, he has 23 points, second most on the club, and nine goals, also second most on the team. At the time of his injury, Smyth’s 26 points ranked tied for sixth in the NHL. In 942 career regular season NHL games with the Kings, Colorado Avalanche, the New York Islanders and the Edmonton Oilers, the 6-2, 189-pound native of Banff, Alberta, has 683 points (319-364=683) and 743 penalty minutes. |

Hopefully Seegs can stick around. I wouldn't expect him to drop the gloves all that much, but he's physical and will drop then when needed.

This might be a dumb question, but i will state the obvious.
The recalled 2 and placed one on IR. Isn't that one two many on the roster? Crossing fingers, Harrold goes bye-bye.
