LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings have announced the following player transactions:

Assigned to Manchester (AHL):

Teddy Purcell - RW

Kevin Westgarth - RW

Returned to Junior Team:
Thomas Hickey – D (WHL)

I can't really say I'm surprised that LA re-assigned Westgarth, but at least they've got him in Manchester if they need him. God forbid Ivanans gets hurt, but if he does, they've got a couple of legit heavies in Westgarth and Crosty in NH.

Westgarth did what he had to do and should get a few call ups for some games if anything is expected to get nasty, which is a big possibility with what the West teams have going for em.

Westgarth showcased himself pretty well in the preseason. His being sent down isn't a surprise, but hopefully he earned himself consideration for future call-up opportunities.

Very much so, but to add onto what Caps said about bringing them up - his contract is with Manchester (AHL only) so the Kings would have to sign him in order to bring him up. Not that it would be hard, but its worth mentioning.

Well I hope to see Westgarth in a kings uniform in the future. Now that osullivan was signed, there needs to be room for 1 more. Who is getting sent down?
