I take it Bernier isn't going anywhere soon.

yikes. obviously different people, but my mom had "minor" back surgery and has had "minor" back surgery 5 more times since. in fact, my family has a history of back problems and i believe everyone in my family that has has one, has had two.

again, i'm aware that my family's genes are much different than his, but still, from my experience, there's nothing "minor" about any back surgery.

No, but hockey players have been known to play entire playoff series on a BROKEN LEG. They tend to handle rehab a lot better than you or me, or our mothers. I've had back problems my whole life too; whenever my herniated disc flares up I'm on the mend for weeks, if not months. But I'm not an athlete!

The Fourth Period is reporting LA is talking to Cristobal Huet and will still be moving Bernier. I think Bernier prefers to be dealt before training camp, but Lombardi made no promises that it would get done.

Really hope Quick and his new huge contract aren't headed down the same road a certain Islanders netminder is so familiar with. That said though, plenty of gyus have work done in the offseason and return as well or better than the season before. Time will tell.

I'm not %100 as to how the injury occurred, but as some have already mentioned, any back surgery is touchy. Let's hope Jonathan Quick can make a full recovery without complications. Great goaltender and not only good for the Kings, but for the league as a whole. Good goalie and even better humanitarian, with his willingness to give back to LA's community/kids.
