Kings' Dustin Brown Activated From Non-Roster Status

LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Kings have activated captain and right wing Dustin Brown from non-roster status, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.

Brown, 24, who missed the last two Kings games but is expected to play tonight in Detroit, was granted non-roster status by the NHL on Monday (February 23) so he could be with his wife Nicole for the birth of their second child.

Brown is the youngest captain in team history and the only American to ever hold that honor. The 6-0, 207-pound native of Ithaca, New York has 48 points (23-25=48) and 54 penalty minutes in 58 games this season. Now in his fifth season with the Kings, Brown ranks second on the team in goals (23), power play goals (7; tied with Anze Kopitar and Jarret Stoll) and points (48). In addition, the 2009 NHL All-Star leads the team with 213 hits (total ranks third in the NHL), 237 shots (total ranks seventh in the NHL) and five game-winning goals (total is tied for 14th in the NHL). Originally selected by the Kings in the first round (13th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Brown has 187 points (88-99=187) and 259 penalty minutes in 327 career NHL games - all with the Kings.
