Kings Assign Kevin Westgarth to Manchester

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings have assigned forward Kevin Westgarth to the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced Monday.

Westgarth, 25, has zero points and nine penalty minutes in nine games with the Kings during his rookie season. The 6-5, 241-pound native of Amherstburg, Ontario made his Kings/NHL debut on January 20 at Minnesota. Westgarth, who signed with the Kings as an unrestricted free agent on March 16, 2007, has also skated in 55 games with the Monarchs this season, posting eight points (2-6=8) and a team-leading 146 penalty minutes.

Its too bad that Westgarth couldn't find more dance partners during his time up with the Kings. I think he's going to have to work a little more on his game if he wants to stick in the NHL. The days of pure enforcers having a spot on teams are just about over.

as much as that sucks , youre right. and ivanans just got back fom the ir too, they really like him there eh? westgarth would make for better california fights. ivanans is succesful but rather boring, westgarth and parros would be a deadly little rivalry.man,do i long for the days of the pure enforcer, but your right the proof is in andrew peters stats, scott parkers whereabouts, and a few too many rosters around the league. peace
