First, I don't think 4-1/2 years is a brand new sign on. Second, being a 'Wings fan I don't think that makes me a Preds homer. If Tootoos hit was even near dirty, I didn't see it. I saw many posts from the "Simon" incident saying if he would have just turned and belted him etc..., and that's what JT did. They both got suspended. Modano, (a home boy from Livonia) swung his stick overhand and accross the back of another player. In my opinion that warrants a suspension. Just because it didn't hit the guy in the face, is no excuse.

Thanks for the warm welcome...
Homer Fanboy? Idiot? Poofter?
Geez Walt, I just found out about this site a week or so prior to my first post. No need to bust out the insults. Maybe I should have made a comment instead about how all checking should be eliminated. Better yet, all physical contact. Take off the helmets and pads and add toe picks to the skates and replace the sweaters with sequinied spandex. Should make for a nice 50-48 barnburner. I find it ironic that you state everyone who had an opinion in favor of what Tootoo did doesn't give a crap about the NHL, but in the next line of your statement, you state you have no interest as well. What happened after 1998 that turned you off of hockey other than that was the last year Dallas won the cup? Please explain what "we in this forum want back in the NHL". We still have the stars, the up and comers, the journeymen, checking, skating, penalties, goals, saves, and yes fights. If you mean you want the nets taken down behind the endlines, I'm sorry to inform you that getting a puck in the grill is way over rated. Other than 5 minutes of fight coverage, what did "we" gain from the passion of the Sabres/Senators home and home? Oh wait...that's right...that all started with a blindside hit on Chris Drury by Chris Neil resulting with blood on the ice. (Maybe Drury should have had a bigger visor on. That might have prevented it) At least Tootoo hit Modano in the chest where he could see him coming. And if Robidas comes flying in to the rescue at mach 2, he probably shouldn't be leading with his face. That being said, I hope your interest in the NHL comes back. When it does and if you're in the area, I'll buy you a beer or two while we watch the game.

What some bull!!!
I think if Tootoo had not taken the shot as he was rushed in, he would have been taking a trip to the hospital or missing games for injury himself. The officials did not see anything wrong with his actions and did not even give him a penalty. I think he should have been commended for not retaliating after getting hit with a stick from Madona after the fight.
It really reminded me of the old school house taunt "There's only going to be two hits in this fight - Me hitting you and you hitting the ice!" Last edited by Bemis; 03-27-2007 at 09:34 PM. Reason: misspelling |

Just reading these old posts and had a good laugh at this guy! He must have been beat up by a little guy back in the day and is stil trying to get over it. The more I thought about the hit the more I was proud of 22 for straightening that wannabe-tough-guy Robidas out like that. Actually, I wish he would have punched Modano in the lips as well for swinging his stick at him. Colin Campbell and anyone who thinks like him can eat a big fat shi7 sandwich as far as I'm concerned.
