Jody Shelley Suspended for Two Games

TORONTO – Philadelphia Flyers forward Jody Shelley has been suspended for two games and will forfeit $11,827.96 in salary for delivering a hit from behind to Boston Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid in NHL game #425, on December 11, the National Hockey League announced today.

Shelley's fine is based on his average annual salary and is calculated under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

The incident occurred at 5:08 of the second period. Shelley was assessed a major penalty for checking from behind and a game misconduct.

Shelley will miss games Tuesday against Pittsburgh and Wednesday at Montreal. He is eligible to return Saturday when the Flyers host the Rangers.

I'm fine with this. 2 games is enough. It was a stupid play by Shelley, but I don't believe it was malicious. Jody's always been a pretty honest tough guy.

This is consistent with other boarding calls.
I don't have an issue with this, it has NOTHING to do with the team he's playing with. It was a dangerous bonehead play.

Less than I was expecting I was thinking 3-5 games, happy with two although it may as well be three as there will be no one for him to fight against Rangers with Boogard out

Do ya think they may just call Walker up or would that be just throwing him to the wolves to soon after an injury?

we already have bartulis on the roster so he may need to be moved in order to bring up walker. plus, homer is intent on carrying 3 goalies this week with leighton back so that may complicate things even more. i personally think walker should be brought up and playing but who knows at this point.

But it's the same lineup that faced the so called Big Bad Bruins who didn't even respond.
