Jets Claim Anthony Peluso off Waivers from Blues
The Winnipeg Jets are pleased to announce they have claimed right winger Anthony Peluso off waivers. Peluso was placed on waivers by the St. Louis Blues and will now report to the Jets.
Peluso, 23, has played in 36 games with the Peoria Rivermen of the American Hockey League so far this season. In that time, the North York, ON native has recorded 11 points (5G, 6A) and 58 penalty minutes. He has played in 181 total AHL games all with the Rivermen for 29 career points (15G, 14A) and 376 career penalty minutes. Prior to turning professional, Peluso played major junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League with the Erie Otters, Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds and the Brampton Battalion. He was originally drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the sixth round, 160th overall, in the 2007 NHL Draft. Last edited by chilly666; 01-16-2013 at 03:58 PM. |

Hey Winnipeg finally woke up! Thorburn and Stuart are great and all but that's it for the whole organization save for a couple MWs on St. John's. Hope he gets some games with the big club, he wasn't going higher than Peoria with Reaves in StL.
Based on their depth chart, the fourth line right now looks like Antti Miettinen, Jim Slater and Kyle Wellwood. Plenty of room for a tough guy, we'll see what happens.

Not having a HW is no longer that big a deal in this "new" NHL. And in a shortened season they will be even less of a factor. And yeah I know the East seems to be loading up but lets see how much ice-time they get before everybody tears me a new one.

too all them who are going nuts because eastern conference teams are loaded with heavyweight just calm down already, at the begining of 2011-2012 everyone was going nuts about teams signing heavys then we saw godard, orr, carkner, leblond, ivanans, westgarth, vandermeer, macintyre, etc, they all had very few games or simply were put on waivers and played in the ahl.
i can remember clearly mike therrien as an analist on rds calling out the habs many times for having no heavyweight enforcer on the roster and actually he doesnt so i do expect montreal to get a heavy for next year (or maybe he think prust can carry the load?) if its the case then hell see prust is not heavy and will sign one |
