Jarkko Ruutu Suspended One Game
TORONTO – Anaheim Ducks forward Jarkko Ruutu has been suspended for one game for delivering a late hit to Nashville Predators forward Martin Erat in Game Four of their Western Conference quarterfinal last night, the National Hockey League announced today.

The incident occurred 4:00 into the second period and Ruutu was assessed a minor penalty for interference on the play.

Ruutu’s suspension will be served tomorrow night (April 22) when the Ducks host the Predators in Game Five of the series.

i agree with this suspension.

very late hit by ruutu.

edit: after watching the video again, it really wasn't that bad. when i saw it on versus it seemed a lot worse. it was still late, but the hit was pretty weak.

Another bull**** suspension. A late hit doesn't equal a suspension. The Versus assholes were trying to label it a headshot, which it wasn't. It's a two minute minor and nothing more.

Well, you have seen the pic I posted where Rutuu's shoulder was at Erat's head level, not at his shoulder in the Preds thread.

I know I wouldn't be getting this fired up over the Wings...

Hit was slightly late, deserved a 2 minute interference call. Suspension? No

Ruutu was going to get healthy scratched anyway with Bobby Ryan returning to the lineup.

Yeah, a little too late for my liking, but the way the league is approaching/reacting to hits like these its no surprise he was suspended.

Still, looked more like a shoulder injury than a head injury to me. I think Ruutu was suspended because of both the result of the hit and his reputation more than anything - and the ongoing hysteria over these blindside hits the media has helped to boil over - apparantly the league felt they had little choice but pull the trigger on yet another suspension. This spring has been insane!
