Jannik Hansen Re-Signs With Canucks
Vancouver, B.C. - Vancouver Canucks President and General Manager Mike Gillis announced today that the Canucks have re-signed forward Jannik Hansen.
Hansen, 24, recorded 15 points (9-6-15), including three game-winning goals, and 18 penalty minutes in 47 games with Vancouver in 2009.10. The 6’1” right winger recorded three points (1-2-3) in 12 playoff games. In 107 regular season NHL games, all with Vancouver, Hansen has registered 36 points (15-21-36) and 57 penalty minutes. The Herlev, Denmark native was drafted by Vancouver 287th overall in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. |

The arbitrator awarded Hansen a 1 yer contract worth $825,000 - a decent raise from the 550k he earned last year. But the big difference now is its a one-way contract - since he's been with the Canucks he's always had two-way contracts and never had to clear waivers.
Anyhow, no surprise the Canucks accepted and signed him. Based on what MacArthur got the other day, I was almost expecting Hansen to be awarded upwards of 1 million a season, so I'm pretty happy with this. Now, lets see what Mason Raymond is going to get, and how much more the Canucks will be over the cap....

There is no way he'd clear waivers anyways, so I'm not sure it effects us that much.
Mason Raymond's low salary from last yr (850K) works to our advantage in arbitration. MacArthur got a 70% raise (base salary of 1.4 mill last yr!). If Raymond gets a 200% raise, his salary would go to about 2.5 mill. Still a good deal for us. I can't imagine the arbitrator going higher than that, or much past that. |
