James Wisniewski Suspended for Two Games

TORONTO - New York Islanders defenseman James Wisniewski has been suspended for two games and will forfeit $79,268.30 in salary for directing an inappropriate gesture toward New York Rangers player Sean Avery during NHL game #28 on October 11. The incident occurred during a stoppage of play in the first period.

Wisniewski, who was suspended for eight games on March 17, 2010, is considered a repeat offender under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Accordingly, he forfeits his salary based on the number of games in the season (82), rather than the number of days (186). The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

Wisniewski will miss the Islanders' next two games -- Oct. 13 at Washington and Oct. 15 at Pittsburgh. He is eligible to return Oct. 16 against Colorado.

Not as bad as I thought it would be but it's still kind of strange that they consider a blowjob gesture a more serious offence than a throat slash gesture.

Whats ****ing retarded is that he gets one more game than Cammalleri did for jabbing at a kids face with the stick and then two handing him in the leg.

Shawn33 couldn't be more right. Cammalleri intentionally tries to cause injury by slashing at a guy with his stick, gets 1 game. Wiz makes a minor ****ing hand motion (that Gary Bettman admitted to not even seeing) and gets 2?

Although it's well worth it, that is total nonsense. Colin Campbell should just ****ing leave hockey alone and go be a figure skating judge somewhere.

Thats a fuking joke. Mike Cammalleri gets one game for that slash and Wisniewski gets two games for this? Buttman is a joke and so is Colin Campbell. They are ruining hockey. I guess if Wisniewski was a good player, he wouldnt have been suspended.

Bettman may not have seen what Wiz did but I'm sure he got Colin Campbell to demonstrate it to him later that night.
