James Wisniewski Suspended Eight Games
TORONTO – Anaheim Ducks defenseman James Wisniewski has been suspended for eight games, without pay, for delivering a hit to the head area of an unsuspecting opponent - Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Brent Seabrook in NHL Game #1041 Wednesday night, the National Hockey League announced today.
The incident occurred at 2:22 of the second period and resulted in Wisniewski being assessed a minor penalty for charging. Seabrook suffered an injury on the play. Wisniewski, who was suspended for two games on October 31, 2009, now is considered a repeat offender under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Accordingly, he forfeits $268,292.72 in salary, based on the number of games in the season (82), rather than the number of days (193). The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund. "Mr. Wisniewski delivered a retaliatory hit to the head of an opponent who never had possession of the puck," said Colin Campbell, NHL Senior Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations. "The fact that Mr. Wisniewski is a repeat offender also entered into this decision." Wisniewski will be eligible to return April 3 at Los Angeles. |
What a soft league, It's almost as feminine as baseball.

That is bogus. |
what a f'n joke the NHL has become. Seabrook nails Perry and Wiz nails him and gets 8 games WTF?

Way to go, the consistency in this league is from another world

It was a brutal cheapshot on Seabrook. The NHL has really fuked things up by issuing this suspension, but none for Cooke or Richards.
|
Can someone pull out the suspension chart?

When you hit a star player (power forward or not) sometimes someone might come a knockin. I think the shot on Perry should have been "avenged" but I think that was a bit drastic. Go after him after a whistle. Fight him. Go after Toews. I don't know if the punishment fit the crime there. On the other hand, that's the kind of hit I would expect a Bruin to put on Matt Cooke tonight, right before they re-enact the famous Clint Malarchuk incident, minus the whole doctor and saving his life part of course. |
He comes in from the blueline, jumps into a guy without the puck, and leads with the elbows/forearms.
This is exactly what he should have got. It may look extreme in comparison to the Cooke non-suspension, but that was a bad call. This is a good call. |
Bullsh*t. I only saw the hit once and it didn't even look that bad. Maybe I need a refresher but didn't Wiz hit him straight on?

Stevecanuck16 has it exactly right. Wiz skates in from the blue line, full head of steam, jumps up to catch Seabrook with a forearm/elbow. 8 games is sending a message. A bit heavy maybe, but the message is being sent. |
WOW seabrooks hit on perry looked alot worse then the wisniewski hit on seabrook. he hit him right in the chest. seabrook got what he deserved |
