Jacques and Pouliot Re-Sign With Edmonton
The Edmonton Oilers have signed forwards Marc Pouliot and Jean-Francois Jacques to two-year contracts.
“We are pleased to re-sign both Marc and J.F. to new contracts,” stated Oilers General Manager, Kevin Lowe. “Marc had a very productive season in Springfield, where he put up some solid numbers offensively and he continued to display those skills down the stretch with the Oilers. Jacques plays a physical game and he also had a solid season with the Falcons before being injured. We look forward to watching these players contribute to the Oilers success in the future.” Both players split the past season between the Oilers and the Springfield Falcons, Edmonton’s American Hockey League affiliate. Pouliot, the Oilers’ first choice (22nd overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, scored a goal and six assists and had 12 penalty minutes in 24 games with Edmonton in 2007-08. The 6’1”, 195 pound centre began the season in Edmonton and played nine games with the Oilers before being assigned to Springfield on November 3rd. With the Falcons, he scored a single-season high 47 points (21 goals, 26 assists) in 55 games and finished the season as Springfield’s second leading scorer. Pouliot rejoined the Oilers on March 2nd and appeared in Edmonton’s final 14 regular season games. In that span of 14 games Pouliot registered all seven of his points, including a single-game career-high 1-1-2 versus Colorado on March 22nd. Six of his seven points were scored in an eight-game stretch as he tallied 1-5-6 from March 9th to 22nd. Since turning pro in 2005-06 after a successful junior career with the Rimouski Oceanic of the QMJHL, Pouliot has scored 6-13-19 with 30 PIM in 78 career NHL games with the Oilers. He has also scored 50-74-124 with 130 PIM in 153 games with the Oilers’ American Hockey League affiliates.

I'd be surprised. First, I think his knee is messed up and he's out until the new year. Second, while he's produces well in the AHL, he has 0 points in 53 games with the Oilers. His game has yet to transfer over to the big leagues.
