Isles' Parenteau testing the FA waters

Quote:
According to RDS’ Renaud Lavoie, the Islanders forward will be heading straight for the free agent market on July 1st.

Renaud P Lavoie
@RenLavoieRDS According to sources out of Long Island, it appears PA Parenteau is headed to free agency on July 1.
Oh boy, not going to be easy for the Isles to get another 70 point guy. Ugh, Snow stinks.

That's just the way it's going to go."

But was he a 70 points guy because he really is, or because he was playing with Tavares and Moulson?

It's a toss up, he played a bunch of games with Okposo-Neilsen too. Even if it is cause of MM and JT, shouldn't get rid of him unless we have someone to replace that offense.

Welcome to JT's wing, Josh bailey. Oh, God.

We need something to make us feel better:

Parenteau is a decent player but IMO not worth what he is likely asking for (4-5 mill a year). Still Isles have loads of cap space.

Therein is sort of also lies the problem. The way the floors keep going up, teams are almost being forced to pay more for the middle tier kind of guys. Who knows what things will be like after the next lockout though.

At one point last season, the Isles on ice cap number was about 20 million below the floor. It's amazing they win any games.
