Isles Bring Hamonic Off IR, Recall Casey Cizikas, Send Poulin & Ness To AHL

The New York Islanders announced today that forward Casey Cizikas has been recalled from loan from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League (AHL). The club also removed Travis Hamonic from injured reserve and returned goaltender Kevin Poulin on loan to the Sound Tigers. Earlier today, defenseman Aaron Ness was also returned on loan to the Islanders’ AHL affiliate.

Cizikas, 20, leads all Sound Tigers in scoring with 44 points, including a team-high 29 assists. The Toronto, ON, native also leads the team with a plus-25 plus-minus rating and ranks second on the Sound Tigers in goals with 15.

Since Jan. 1, Cizikas has posted 24 points (nine goals, 15 assists) and a plus-19 rating in 18-games to lead the Sound Tigers to a 16-1-0-1 record. He represented Bridgeport at the 2012 AHL All-Star Classic on Jan. 30 and was named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Month for January.

Selected by the Islanders in the fourth round, 92nd overall, of the 2009 National Hockey League Entry Draft, Cizikas established career highs in goals (29), points (64) and plus-minus rating (+43) last year with the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors during his fourth and final Ontario Hockey League season. He added a career-high 19 points (5g/14a) with a plus-11 rating in 16 OHL playoff games, as Mississauga fell in Game Seven of the OHL Finals to the Owen Sound Attack.

im all for this casey kid, suppously hes 1st round captain material but got in some trouble... now hes getting good and deserves a shot. the problem i have is, if they play him with any of the morons (reasoner/pandolfo/rolston) its going to be a god damn waste.

snow absolutely HATES haley, its obvious. i hope haleys signed a few more years becuase if not, hes gone at the end of the season and i want snows head on a stake.

I'd prefer no Gillies tonight, they guy would beat the **** out of the entire Rangers lineup with the exception of Rupp!

I'd predict Edge Gillies vs Rupp and Win Gillies vs anyone else on the team.

Haley in the lineup would be alot of fun tonight but its not going to happen. Too many morons in the isles lineup, lol vznyisles!

haley is a restricted free agent at season's end.

Actually hes a UFA. This will be his fourth NHL contract

capgeek has him as a RFA (doesn't update til after season), but since he'll be more than a 3rd year pro with less than 80 games, i think he'll be a UFA now looking at it.
