Islanders Trade Lukowich to New Jersey
The Islanders have acquired a third round pick in the 2006 NHL Draft from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for veteran defenseman Brad Lukowich.

The 29-year old Lukowich had one goal and 12 assists in 57 games for the Islanders this season. He signed a two-year contract with the Islanders as an unrestricted free agent last summer after playing the two previous seasons with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

they acquire Klee and Lukowich... and don't they have other big defenseman in the AHL? is this a table setter much?

jesus!! 2 D-men?? If we get to 3pm with Lou not getting a scorer, he's nuts

Keep in mind they lost a d-man too in Sean Brown, so they're only net +1

Doesnt make sene to me that the Isles would trade within their own division during a playoff run. [in generla, not that both these teams are in or out]

True, but even with that, they got a boatload of D with enough room to deal one more to get some offense.

Who'll play defense for the Islanders now? Lukowich gone, Sopel gone.
Campoli, Zhitnik, Gervais, Martinek, Erskine and Bouchard?

Grebeshkov, who was acquired yesterday, will probably play with the Isles instead of in the AHL.

The Islanders website says Grebeshkov is practicing with the NHL club and Gervais is in the AHL. I'm so happy to see Lukowich go. Mad Mike seemed to think that the 6th defenseman on a Stanley Cup team can be top 4 on another. Wrong.

Grebeshkov is a pretty decent player right now and will only get better I thought he played well when he was called up for those couple games
