Wow! Fantastic! Best news since the Isles signed Carkner and Bolts.

Let the goonery begin!

I don't mean to **** on anyone's parade, but I see a lot of people saying how tough the Isles are now, and I'd just like to point out that, so far, he's just been signed by the Islanders, whereas up until today he was on an AHL contract.
He hasn't been called up yet; although him being on an NHL contract obviously makes a potential recall a lot more realistic.

Everyone of those guys fights regularly. Not like Bruins fans saying Chara is one of the tough guys which we always hear around here...

Gallant is a warrior, good to see him get signed. Now hopefully he will get to show his stuff at the NHL level. Man the Isles will be stacked with toughness if he makes it to the show.

Gallant is easily one of the toughest guys in the A and an absolutely awesome enforcer. That being said, I doubt he sees much (if any) time in the big show this season unless something drastic happens. I sure hope he's signed for longer though, I'd like to see him up for pre-season next year.

Congrats, the signing is a step in the right direction and if someone gets hurt……..he may and hopefully will get the nod. Lane MacDermid got the call when Thornton went down.

Lane MacDermid was up with Boston since the season began and played in the same game Thorts got injured.
But yeah, I agree with you.

Good signing

Good signing for Isles

The Islanders are like a see-saw in recent years from being a tough team to a soft team to now loading up and getting uber tough again!

Glad to see a real enforcer type signed, its good for ALL of us, it really is in the big pic/grand scheme of things, good move Isles

Con-freakin-gradulations to Gally! Dude is deserving of it. Worked his way up from the low minors to a contract. I wonder if Brent Thompson had anything to do with this as he had him in Bridgeport before going to the Island as an assistant.

Being cautiously optimistic, perhaps we're seeing the league make another movement towards toughness, at least in the east.
