Islanders Recall Drew Fata; Sutton Out Four to Six Weeks
The Islanders announced today that veteran defenseman Andy Sutton will be out 4-6 weeks after an MRI this morning revealed a partial tear of his hamstring. Sutton suffered the injury during the Islanders’ 3-2 win over San Jose on Monday afternoon at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

Defenseman Drew Fata has been recalled from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League.

Fata, a 6-1, 210-pound defenseman, has played in 48 games this season with the Sound Tigers, registering three goals and five assists. His 156 penalty minutes ranks second on the team.

Fata appeared in three games for the Islanders during the 2006-07 season, recording one goal and five penalty minutes.

Elsewhere on the Islanders’ blueline, Bruno Gervais is day-to-day with a strained oblique. Brendan Witt, listed as out 2-4 weeks after spraining his knee on Feb. 12, remains on schedule to return within that time frame.

Is Fata someone who can hang with the heavies...he is not huge size wise but we have seen that does not always matter.

fats is fuking crazy. not only does he fight but he likes to start stuff too with hits, cheapshots, etc. he may calm down though now that hes in the nhl.

Fata is a personal favourite of mine, I've been following him since his days in Wilkes-Barre.
Nice to see him called up.

man Fata is the **** he was my favourite player on St. Mikes for a few years and I've been following him every since.... he is a huge hitter and a good middleweight, but sometimes he bites off more than he can chew

Well, it's nice to see Fata get the call now that our blueline is decimated. He definitely provides some much needed toughness, but the Islanders are in serious trouble until some of their injured defensemen start to return.

Very nice...the guy is a bit of a loose cannon so he should bring some excitement to the games. Even though I am a Rangers fan he endeared me with that hit on Hossa...my only complaint is that Hossa's career wasn't ended so I still have to put up with that bag of sh!t sucking up a roster space in the Rangers organization. (Also, props to Pock for jumping in there.) Thanks again!
