As expected, the Islanders have claimed Nate Thompson on waivers. Last year, Thompson served as captain for Scott Gordon in Providence.

Peter Schaefer and Jeremy Reich were not claimed.

I've always liked Thompson. I wish him the best of luck and hope he makes the NHL roster.

I'm glad to see Thompson get a shot in the NHL. The Bruins never gave him much of a chance. Also, I'm glad nobody claimed Reich. We could use his toughness in Providence.

I'm happy for Thompson. He'll finally have a job in the NHL. He deserves it, Boston just has too much offensive depth. He was Providence's captain last season. Isles fans will love the guy. He's a good skater, hard working, physical, and isn't shy about dropping the gloves. 10x better than Tim Jackman.

Good to see Nate get a shot at the nhl, It was going to be tough for him to make the bruins. But i think he will do well for the isles.

Sightly less soft, good to hear.

Not too bad. Hopefully he continues to play well under Gordon.
