Islanders Acquire Rob Davison

The New York Islanders have acquired defenseman Rob Davison from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for a seventh round draft pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

The 27-year old Davison, currently in his fifth NHL season, has played 15 games for the Sharks this season. In 176 career NHL games, the 6-3, 220-pound native of St. Catharines, ON has recorded two goals with 12 assists for 14 points. He is regarded as a tough and very reliable stay-at-home defenseman and high character player.

Davison was originally drafted by San Jose in the fourth round (98th overall) of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft and has spent his entire professional career within the San Jose organization.

Sad to see Davi go, but he wasn't getting or going to get any playing time with Shelley here now. Hopefully he plays with the Isles, good luck to him.

Has he played since Parros beat him up?

Atleast the Isles finally get some grit. Mike Comrie should not have to fight.

Good for him. A team guy who deserves a regular shift in the league.

davison had the most character on the sharks and is a great guy, but could never crack the lineup. tough Sob reminds me of a young Todd Simpson. (look at his fight with Gratton, he also took on the boogieman just for a little shove on Paveleski after the whistle. That means something!) good luck davy we will miss you! at least he's givin a chance bc he deserves it! Just dont pound on my boy clowe when your in the island because your my 2 fav players

Isles did alright... Davison is a tank...

is McCabe coming to the NY area or what dudes?

Does this mean that Marc-Andre Bergeron will be sent down to the minors / on the move... or will Satan or someone else be on the move from long island (forward or d man)?

Good move by the Isles to get someone to fight while Simon attempts that playing thing.

Didn't give up much at all either, good deal.

I really like this pickup by the Islanders. They desperately need the toughness and bodies on the blueline with all of their injury troubles. He better end up as a regular in the lineup.

Good move for the Isles. They had absolutely no toughness on that team without Simon (at least he was a presence). Now call up Brennan and actually give him a chance to play and you have a pretty decent 1-2 punch.
