Islanders Acquire Lessard from Thrashers for Skinner
UNIONDALE, N.Y. - The New York Islanders acquired right-winger Junior Lessard from the Atlanta Thrashers for defenceman Brett Skinner on Tuesday.

Lessard will report directly to the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, the Islanders added.

Lessard appeared in 41 games with the AHL's Chicago Wolves this season, registering six goals and five assists. Lessard, 28, has played in 27 career NHL games with Dallas and Tampa Bay, recording three goals and an assist.

Lessard has played in 298 career AHL games, recording 86 goals and 92 assists over five seasons.

Skinner appeared in 11 games this season with the Islanders, recording four penalty minutes. He also played in 24 contests with the AHL Tigers, registering a goal and 11 assists.

Skinner, 25, spent last season with the AHL's Providence Bruins, recording seven goals and 40 assists.

that move is def. gonna get the islanders the stanley cup. and its probably gonna piss off a few isles fans in the process

Good thing it was Junior Lessard they got or Isles4life would have had a heart attack if they got the other lessard

all i saw was isles acquire lessard, thought of francis. instead, the isles get a ginger who couldnt be more of the opposite of francis lessard. bummer..

Thankfully, I read the whole name of the player before I ended up getting my hopes up. Francis...now that would have been sweet!

Minor league acquisition for the time being. A ton of guys are probably way ahead of him in line to get called up this year. Still, for a former Hobey Baker winner, his numbers this year in Chicago are awfully weak.

I'd really really really like to see Francis Lessard back in the NHL... definitely one of the more exciting heavyweights out there.

his numbers are really down this year cause the retard coach doesn't know how to use the players that atlanta or even the wolves have signed. carrot top as he is called was dropped to the checking line for the last 4-6 weeks and that truly hasn't helped his numbers at all either.
