RALEIGH, NC – Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes
, today announced that the team has agreed to terms with goaltender Dan Ellis on a one-year contract. The deal will pay Ellis a prorated $650,000 for the 2012-13 season.
Ellis, 32, is 8-7-2 with a 2.46 goals-against average and .922 save percentage in 18 games this season with the Hurricanes’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers
. The Saskatoon, Sask., native is 72-57-15 with a 2.68 goals-against average and 12 shutouts in 165 career NHL games with Dallas, Nashville, Tampa Bay and Anaheim. Originally selected by Dallas in the second round, 60th overall, in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Ellis has appeared in seven career Stanley Cup playoff games, going 2-5 with a 2.87 goals-against average and .928 save percentage.
