I don't understand the move from the Isles standpoint. He is one of the few positives the team has had this season so far. How many ****ing years are they planning to "rebuild"? Tavares is going to be in his mid thirties or long gone buy the time they get their **** together. If they could get a solid goalie thats not made of glass and a new coach with some sense they could probably have something to build on in a couple of years but at the rate they are going it's more like 10 or 15 years. And for the love of all thats holey they have to get off Simms tip.

The Headline should read: Isles give up on 2011 season in 2010. Seriously, why trade away your only bright spot when you are 18 million under the cap? He's a UFA this summer but why wouldn't you re-sign a 26 Year old mobile defenseman who is leading your team in scoring? Unless Wiz called his agent and said the 5 magic words: Trade me right f*king now!

Garth Snow seems more infatuated with youth than Michael Jackson.

good pickup for the habs..wiz is a good d-man and should fit in nicely there, lets hope he starts scrapping more because I always thought he could throw em pretty good for a smaller guy

That could be it right there. Until the Islanders management acts like they give a **** then why would anyone want to play there?

It's pretty much what I expected Garth to get for him but really? We have NO ONE on D now. Wiz was as good as he could be on a terrible team. Yeah, he missed a lot of shots and found himself out of position sometimes but c'mon, it's the Islanders. On any other team, most of his mistakes would go unnoticed but since he was the only decent player of NHL caliber on the team, there was always people pointing fingers.

Just another hypocritical move from that bloated, POS Garth Snow. He gets a good young player and trades him....isn't that what we are supposed to be keeping? Like I said after the Guerin trade: this is why backup goalies shouldn't be GM's. He has no talent, this team has no talent and pretty much everything sucks in Islander country.

This draft isn't looking to be very deep and Garth Snow makes the Islanders even worse. Just throw in the towel and let everyone stop wasting their money.

That's just the way it's going to go."

It's only a matter of time before Tavares is dished out for some picks

I'm stunned.

Garth Snow is even more of a fucking asshole than I'd thought (if that's possible). Just when you think he couldn't negatively outdo himself, he finds a way to surprise you. Wiz was the only stalwart defenseman the Isles had, and Snow trades him for a draft pick? Who the hell does he expect to fill the gaping hole left in the Isles' already porous defense?

Snow must have been upset that the Islanders had finally been able to mount a 5-game point streak, thereby allowing them to surpass the Devils and get out of the league basement. He hates it when his team succeeds. Well, he probably won't have to worry about that for a long while.

an American born defenseman in Montreal? Wow how new! (i'm being sarcastic here)

Wisniewski is a pretty decent defenseman, i don't see him as a top 2, but i can definitely see him take the place of Subban which still needs seasoning if this season has shown us anything. Subban may have been hailed as a Calder favorite, but as the season wears on, he ends up causing crucial mistakes that result in turnovers. Wisniewski should be a stable force on the blueline, and should definitely be in the lineup everyday.

What a steal for the Habs. Wisnieswki is a Norris Trophy candidate according to some people.

How bad are things in Long Island when their fans are on here crying about losing their leading scorer, and their leading scorer is James Wisniewski.

Good trade by the Habs. The only way this trade makes any sense for the Isles is if Wisniewski made it clear to management that he wasn't going to re-sign.

Sorry but I think they are going to trade any player that is not named Dipetro, Streit or Tavares, that is going to make over 3.5 million....
