I have a fairly reliable source who tells me Andrew Peters will NOT re-sign with the Buffalo Sabres however he has and is in serious contract talks with Phoenix, and Ottawa and will likely end up in one of those two organizations.

Side note unrelated directly out of Peters mouth he knows he isn't the best fighter in the league but Buffalo better get a legit heavy, or Pat Kaleta will be dead. He won't make it through the season. Funny stuff..

Yeah, there's nothing wrong with Peters. It's always good to have a legit puncher flying escort. Maybe Shelley, Parros, and Ivanans can gets some decent fights out of him? He can certainly wail on Barch a few times a year

Peters wouldn't necessarily be my first choice but as of right now I'd gladly take him on the Coyotes. We need someone desperately and anything is better than nothing. I hope that rumor is legit.

According to Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun

Quote:
Brad May won't be getting another contract from his old pal, Brian Burke, and isn't likely to get work elsewhere, which basically means his NHL career has come to an end after 17 seasons and 1001 games ...

I have it on very good authority that those two teams are the most interested and I know for a fact he has spoke to both teams. Whether the deal get's done or not is another thing. It would be interesting to see what Peters could do with a full time job, and being allowed to have 20 fights or so as he made some improvement last year, but simply didn't get playing time.

I've been saying this for awhile,Buffalo should sign him and let
Brad finish out his career with the team he came up with.
They could use his grit and leadership. Why not?

Wow, seriously? I don't see why he wouldn't fit right in there with a one year deal, as there aren't many veteran forwards on that team right now. But there's no reason to believe a guy like Brad May won't find a one year deal elsewhere - to think otherwise is just dumb. He'll take 7 or 800K and fill out a team's 4th line with no problem. Teams like Philly, Pittsburgh, Ottawa, and Detroit are still looking for a guy like May.

Is this from a real hockey writer?

I'd take him in Buffalo in a heartbeat actually.. Not a guy who is gonna beat the super heavy's (he will fight em though), but he is a light heavy who can hang with some tough opposition.. If the Sabres signed him it wouldn't be the fistic answer I was looking for but with Mair, Rivet, Gaustad, Montador, and McCormick I'd feel much more comfortable.. right?

Pretty sure the Flyers and Pens need NO MORE 4th liners. And Detroit wouldnt sign him because he fights. Id like to see Brad get one more crack but it wont happen.

I'd love to see him finish back in Buffalo. He could teach the rest of the team a thing or two about heart. And he commands respect from all but the biggest heavies.

A big issue I see that would keep Sabres away from him is that he does have a habit of losing his head now and again and taking stupid penalties. Ruff has a very low tolerance for that.

If Peters leaves Buffalo and they sign Cowan to replace him, its just going from bad to worse. They'd be better off with no enforcer at all(which would have the same effect as having Cowan, just cheaper). He would supply comedic relief though. JackSchitt must be thrilled over this rumour.

Ruff has a very high tolerance for being a $hitty coach.
