That would be very interesting. Ivanans to the Flyers, would mean westgarth for sure would have a spot in the Kings lineup. With Carcillo and Westgarth?? I like that a lot.

Still keeping my fingers crossed.
Carcillo and Westgarth would be the sickest one-two punch.

LA could easily slide into my 3rd favored team this year.

Makes no sense at all. Then the Flyers would have to get rid of Cote.

Why? Can't have Cote plus Ivanans?

I am hearing that the Dallas Stars are surprisingly shopping Steve Ott. Room for Zherdev? Take this with a grain of salt. Why would they?
about 11 hours ago from web

Joining the Leafs in interest of Nikolai Zherdev are the Dallas Stars, which could turn into a bigger deal. Brad Richards? Michal Rozsival?

I´ve just heard, that Lugano from Switzerland is discussing with Jeff Hamilton, who was playing for the Leafs last season.

no way. every team would run rough shot over the 3rd and 4th line cause a line of say lappy, cote & ivanans would bring you absolutely nothing but toughness and no scoring ability. which the flyers would need to keep some pressure off the top 2 lines.

But you can dress one or the other depending on the game.

Couple of notes from the web:

TFP says the Stars are shopping Richards due to Tom Hicks being cash strapped and he wants to move that salary...good luck.

And TIOPS says Gonchar and Letang are going to begin discussions soon. Gonchar looking for 4 years and the Pens offered 3 at around 10 million. The 4th year is what concerns them because of being on the hook for that money.

Letang has been rumored to sign a 5 year deal worth 15 million for some time now. No link just speculation.

How bout we trade The Kings Cote for Ivanans instead?
Because trading Carcillo even up for Raitis makes no sense for us.
Carcillo has talent and can play the second or third line if we need it.
He's young and can still improve. Ivanans is one dimentional like Cote.
We don't need two guys on the fourth line who don't provide something.
I'd be interested in Ivanans for our HW but not by trading away Carcillo.
NO DEAL!

I'd much rather have Cote and Carcillo. Carcillo can fight in just about any weight class, as well as take regular shifts. Cote has the odd good shift every now and then. I'd also take Cote over Ivy because Cote is much more active in the amount of times he drops the gloves, and his fights are much more exciting.

But there is no way carcillo will play on the top two lines this season (unless there is an injury). Plus don't shot the messenger, the rumors are the Kings want Carcillo. I can understand that you will be upset if (and thats a big if) this happens. But I can't believe how many of your fellow fans want Carcillo out in Philly on the "other sites". Also you and I have no say in the matter, if it happens it happens, it doesn't matter if we think it makes sense or not. You are not in control of the flyers organization and I am not in control of the Kings organization. Trust me on that one, I would have done a bunch of chit different a long time ago. I don't want to see Ivanans go and I also think the Ivanans part is B/S. But we can look at the flyers wanting to dump some salary to make room for another signing. This Matt Barrey (who is close to Lombardi) seems to be convinced that the Kings want Carcillo. Now that being said, who knows if a deal will happen or not. It's hockey, players switch teams all the time, unless they are Joe sakic and Carcillo is no Sakic.

The Zherdev Saga - Part Two
By Alex Tran | Aug 4, 2009The Zherdev saga is finally expected to come to an end sometime around noon today, when the Rangers are widely believed to cut bait with the enigmatic 24 year old winger. There is a ton of rumor and speculation surrounding a possible trade fit with the Toronto Maple Leafs, as it would accommodate his need for a young scoring forward. Forty eight hours and four hundred comments later, looks like it’s time for a new thread and a few quick notes:

The NY Post explains that Zherdev has not ruled out the possibility of returning to the KHL, and may sign a lucrative contract to play over there if no other NHL team offers him a long-term deal in the neighborhood of $3.9M a season. So even if the Rangers accept the one year contract and then trade him, is it in the receiving team’s best interest to give up a quality asset for a player that may bolt one year from now anyways?
Newsday reports that the Rangers have been shopping Zherdev for months without finding an appropriate match, and so the possibility of a trade seems unlikely at this point. In addition, it’s believed that the Rangers would prefer to deal him outside of the Eastern Conference.
The currently rumored deal is young defenseman Ian White and struggling winger Lee Stempniak in exchange for Zherdev. That seems like a hefty price to give up, considering White’s excellent ‘08-’09 season showed that there is a lot of untapped promise. However, Zherdev’s supreme talent is undeniable and might make for some interesting chemistry on a young, exciting line with fellow Russian speakers Kulemin and Grabovski.
Simply put, the man is a walking highlight reel. Glimpses of his work can be viewed here, here, and here.

- Zherdev decision due today. Many reports have Zherdev and his $3.9 million arbitration being let go by the Rangers. Sources tell Hockeyleaks.com that both the Leafs and Oilers have shown interest in the skilled winger, and would be willing to trade for him to ensure they get him without a bidding war. If Zherdev is to become a UFA, many speculate he will head to the KHL.

- While San Jose and Ottawa have had talks regarding Heatley (Hockeyleaks.com can confirm that the Sharks offered Cheechoo and Ehrhof, deal was rejected), Montreal has never been involved in such talks.

- Dominic Moore and the Buffalo Sabres are closing in on one-year deal. It won't be anywhere near the 2.5 million Moore wanted from Toronto before the deadline.

- Brenden Shanahan is expected to re-sign with the Devils over the next 10 days.

- Jeremy Roenick will announce his retirement on Thursday according to several sources.

- Prospal appears to be down to Detroit and Washington
