i didnt say this yesterday but if the pens make this move it could cripple them in the same way that tampa got crippled by signing richards, st. louis, boyle, and vinny to all those long term deals. bad idea plus goligoski is lookin like he could be a cornerstone on d in the burgh for a long time to come.

Pens still have a very deep farm system and we still have all our picks for this season. Only two "untouchables" in the Pens farm system are Go-Go and Caputi.

Yea yea, every one says that but this isnt the same case. It's diffrent because we arnt signing each one of these guys to long term deals where they make 7-8 million. Not to mention Whitney, Fluery, Malkin, Crosby, and soon to be Staal are all locked up. And at affordable prices and most arnt terribly long term. I dont think it would take as much as everyone here thinks it would for St.Louis either. And your right about Go-Go he has a bright future here and with him Whitney, Orpik, Sneep, Strait, Grant, etc. coming up we are stacked at D.

you are wrong about they'll be fine. what are they going to put around them? a bunch of cheap minor leaguers that well shouldnt be playing in the nhl yet. that will hurt the team and cause them to fail in winning the cup. it wont take alot to get him, except two decent minor leaguers i bet that are somewhat close to make the nhl.

Rumor: Marian Gaborik will be delt to the LA KINGS?

The LA Kings are $12 million under then NHL's $56.7 million salary cap and are playing a lot better than most thought they would. Dean Lombardi says if the team keeps it's play up through January, the team would make a move to add a big name player or two. Marian Gaborik is a player Lombardi is looking at. The Kings won't make a move unless Gaborik is 100% healthy.

Does this mean Kovalchuk could be on the radar if Gaborik doesn't work out?

What do you think the Kings would have to give up to get Gaborik? They are unwilling to part ways with any of the young tallent (ie Dustin Brown, Drew Doughty, Anze Kopitar, Kyle Quincey, Jack Johnson, Patrick O'Sullivan, Alex Frolov).

Would the Wild take prospects, picks, Calder, or Handzus?

What are the Kings chances if they do add a player like Gaborik or two?

The Rangers can't be this stupid. Then again with them anything is possible.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit. He just does not look happy playing right now and it's showing in his performance. Anyway that will open room for Sundin to come in and rob the rangers just like so many as of late have done. I could be wrong but I don't think Sundin is that much of a difference maker anymore. Although he would have some more talent around him because there was not much in toronto the last few seasons.

They have Caputi coming up and Kennedy with Staal and Cooke. They can shed a lot of these high price guys that arn't doing much. The farm system is deep enough to the point where these guys could contribute on some of the teams in the NHL. Sykora is about the only one that is of any value. Gill is another one that it seems we miss too but we have other guys that can come up and fill in and do a good job. Tampa not only handcuffed themselves they tied themselves into deals that were long and very very high priced. Whats not to say Tampa takes half the contract?

I gurantee he goes there this off-season. Dont see him be trading there but proably signing sounds realistic.

Has Gaborik said he wants to go to LA?

Caputi is still a couple of years away from seriously competing for a job with the Pens. From the little I've seen of him in the A, he looks like he can be the replacement for Ryan Malone, which I certainly hope is the case. After him, though, there isn't much. The Pens may want to make a blockbuster deal for a scoring winger, but they also need to bring in a little more talent to the organization, especially at wing, so they might want to nab some extra draft picks in the process if they can.

Not sure I like the one thread for all the rumors. Its hard to follow anything in here. Maybe rumors need its own section so we can have separate threads.

Who decides what rumors stay in the player movement vs what rumors get sent to this mess?
