in order to win, at some point, you have to spend a little bit of money!

Some russian sources says that team SKA St. Peterburg Russia is in talks with Brendan Shanahan.
SKA signed Sergei Brylin today and team head coach is Barry Smith.

Don't worry, they're still well under the cap floor. They still have to spend at least $10 million

thats what gets me, they're well under the cap floor but aren't spending anything on UFA's! once they're done signing the RFA's they have, the team will be the same as last year. i guess they're making a run at Tavares!

LA Kings! rebuilding since 1967!

LA and Atlanta are gonna be the teams that help bail teams out of cap problems. They'll take a bloated contract and maybe a nice draft pick from those teams. Judging by who's under contract, you'll probably see an overpaid defenceman coming your way.

You can't rebuild overnight. LA will be good in a few years, but you have to give the kids some time.

The Rocky Mountain News reported earlier this week that the Avalanche continue to negotiate with restricted free agent forward Cody McLeod.
McLeod's agent, Carlos Sosa, who also represents Darcy Tucker, told the News talks on a new contract are ongoing.

McLeod, 24, registered four goals, five assists and 120 penalty minutes in 49 games as a rookie last season.

He made $490,000 last season.

Unrestricted free agent forward Darren McCarty is negotiating a new contract with the Red Wings, reports the Detroit News.
"We're trying to work something out here to come back, I obviously want to," McCarty told the newspaper.

McCarty, 36, made $536,000 last season.

The Red Wings are also expected to sign veteran defenseman Chris Chelios to a new contract.

i know, but as a Kings fan you get tired of loosing under one GM, then here comes another GM who begins to rebuild again. this is Dean's 3rd year and i don't expect much from the team. depending on how well the kids play, maybe 3rd or 4th in the west. next is a different story. they need to be competetive next year. thats all i'm saying.

there is something floatin around ottawa and chicago about possibly cam barker goin to ottawa for chris neil. that would be very interesting. hawks get cap room and a tougher player who will raise hell against most, and the sens get a young talented d-man that hasnt lived up to his potential yet.

You must be off a little bit today. My comment about Ben was dripping with sarcasm...
