We'll start in Montreal, where it's very interesting that Carey Price will be starting tonight against Atlanta. Some rumours continue to swirl that one of Price or Halak are on their way out, possibly to Chicago. Rumours also suggest that Andrei Kostitsyn and Georges Laraque could both end up in the AHL. I think it may be time for the Kostitsyn's to be packaged together and dealt.

Kessel returns to the Leafs tonight, with Tlusty going back to the AHL. If things don't improve over the next five games, changes will come in Toronto. The Monster will get the start tonight, while it's likely both he and Toskala will split the games this weekend. I'm hearing Toskala will go Friday, with Monster going Saturday against Detroit.

Carolina is apparently shopping Ray Whitney, but he's got a NTC, and I don't see him getting a lot of interest from around the league. I also heard a rumour that the team may have some interest in Shanahan.

Whispers around the league have the Oilers shopping Horcoff. He's really struggled thus far, but I still think he could become one of the best centres in the league if given the right opportunity.

Lehtonen is still on Detroit's radar, but two more goalies can be added to that list: NYI's Biron and Ottawa's Elliott.

He is still in the league due to reputation, and his bloated contract, whether either was earned or not. There are way too many guys in the A that are working their balls off to make it to the show. I am sure he is terrified to go down there because he knows he would have goons all-****ing-over him every night all night. Beating up Laraque would be a major feather in the cap of minor leaguers like Yablonski, Westgarth, Sugden, etc who are trying to "make it." The list goes on and on. Big Georges would actually have to fight for a change. He would probably just hug them all and give them the ol' hip toss, but it would only be a matter of time until one of these monsters full of piss and vinegar really ****ing clocks him.

• Is Chris Chelios on the verge of coming back to the NHL?

Phoenix Coyotes GM Don Maloney dropped the name of the 47-year-old defenseman Tuesday after the GMs meeting, when addressing his injury-depleted blue line. Maloney said he planned to travel to San Antonio to scout Chelios on Friday night. The veteran is playing with the AHL's Chicago Wolves.

"He's there, he's saavy and he's in great shape," Maloney said. "[But] I don't know … the pace of the NHL game is so quick."

Chelios, when contacted via text message by ESPN.com, didn't know of the Coyotes' interest.

"We haven't spoken," said Maloney. "He's just another name, a right-handed shooting defenseman, [so we're] saying, 'OK, let's talk about it.' A week ago we were in pretty good shape health-wise, a week later you have two of your top six down."

The Coyotes were without injured blueliners Ed Jovanovski and Zbynek Michalek.

No legit source yet, but i've read on the net twice now that Burke is looking to rade Finger and a 3rd rounder to Jersey for Clarkson. Which would be really decent if that happened.

Makes no sense from a Devils standpoint. Leafs would be very smart to do that though.
