Two ones and a two is too much for Kessel. Nashville probably (most definately) wouldn't have signed him to what Toronto signed him for (5 for 27) Toronto could have got him for a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, for that money by offering him a sheet.

Win Boston.

Kings Blogger Matt Berry reports.

Frolov rumor du-jour: Frolov to Chicago for Versteeg and Cam Barker. What has been holding it up is Chicago wants one of the Kings young D-man, and whomever that D-man is, Lombardi doesn’t want to part with. Don’t shoot the messenger!

Pens-Islanders talking trade. TIOPS mentions it at the bottom of the article. I know the Isles have scouted Eaton, Dupuis, and Bayda. Maybe a player for a pick type swap. Pens are trying to dump salary. Dupuis is the one with the hefty salary and expendebale role.

Well it would have to be either Eaton or Dupuis, because Bayda is in camp on a tryout. I can't see them trading Eaton as it would weaken their blue line, so Dupuis makes the most sense.

Why the f*ck would the Islanders want Dupuis? After all the talk about going with youth, he'd be a pretty useless addition. I'm still holding out hope that any talk between the teams is actually about Godard.

Possibly. I just see the Pens trying to move salary. So anything coming back would be a prospect or pick. Dupuis is useless by the way but he seems to feel he is a top 6 forward.

TIOPS reports that the Pens have quite a few players that are going to be exposed to the waiver wire. Guenin, Engelland, Biz, Conner, Lee, and Smith. They also report Godard and Dupuis are being shopped.

Let's start in Toronto, where I am hearing a package of Stempniak and one of White/Van Ryn could be on the move for a 2nd Round Pick (2010 or 2011, depending on what the team has available). One team I've heard interested in this sort of package from the Leafs is Nashville.

Both Montreal and Ottawa continue to look for a little bit more help on the blueline. While the Scott Hannan rumours you are hearing appear to be false, I can tell you that both teams do have interest in LA's Jack Johnson. ** Added note, I am hearing when Brenden Bell is placed on waivers by the Blues, the Sens may re-claim him

Speaking of young d-men who could be on the move, one source told me that Chicago's Duncan Keith could be had for the right price, which Chicago is setting at a first round pick + or a couple of quality prospects. Chicago understands their cap situation and is looking to improve it.

Another team looking to make one final move is the New York Rangers, who many are predicting to finish out of the playoffs. This team would love to add an established player down the middle, and Nathan Horton is a name floating around a lot. The Rangers would love to dump one of their overpriced d-men but that isn't going so well.

You don't hear too much about the Carolina Hurricanes, but you are going to start. The Hurricanes have a ton of key UFA's after season's end, including Walker, Cullin, Whitney, Corvo, Ward and Wallin. Add to that, Cam Ward is an RFA following this season. Expect big changes to come in Carolina if this team gets off to a slow start.

Mats Sundin remains a big question mark, and with Vancouver up against the cap it looks like he's played his final game as a Canuck. The Rangers are always an option, while the Leafs could finally give Sundin the winger he deserves in Kessel. I'm not saying it's going to happen, but never say never. I've always believed Sundin could finish his career in Toronto, and this would be the season to do it.

Rumor: Bissonette if put on waivers may be plucked by the Leafs. They have had scouts at almost all the pre-season games scouting him.

Also TIOPS says Islanders scouting Biz and will be team that claims him as well. So regardless Biz is playing in the NHL. And also mentions Godard is someone the Islanders want. So Isles fans are proably getting either Biz or Godard. ****.

The Kings are looking at Wayne Gretzky for a 'big role'. Could he possibly come out of retirement? Mario did it.. But its most likely a management job.
