Garth Snow Returns With Three-Year Deal
Also: Islanders Extend Qualifiers to all Restricted Free Agents
The Islanders have signed goaltender Garth Snow to a new three-year contract. "Garth has been an excellent goaltender for us the last three seasons and has been a true professional every step of the way," said Islanders general manager Mike Milbury. "We're very happy he'll be back with us for the long term." Snow, who turned 36 yesterday, has played a vital role in the Islanders' success since joining the team as a free agent in the summer of 2001. The veteran has been a major influence in the dressing room -- sharing an excellent rapport with young goalie Rick DiPietro -- and he has carried the Islanders on his back during crucial stretches in each of his three seasons. Snow is 40-39-12 in his Islanders career. In other news, the Islanders have extended qualifying offers to all of their restricted free agents. Among the players receiving qualifiers are Mark Parrish, Trent Hunter, Shawn Bates, Rick DiPietro, Oleg Kvasha, Mattias Weinhandl, Arron Asham, Justin Mapletoft, Eric Godard and Justin Papineau.
