Forsberg turns down Modo for NHL return

As reported by TSN on Wednesday night, Forsberg's agent Don Baizley has been given permission by his client to start the process of talking to NHL teams that may be interested in his services.

Forsberg told Aftonbladet that he informed Modo management of his decision on Wednesday, a day before the Swedish league's contract deadline.

As many as a dozen NHL teams have reportedly expressed interest in signing Forsberg for the remainder of the season.

I dont care where he goes. But, I'm not opposed to someone giving him the old Bobby Clarke tomahawk on the ankle...

I would still take the risk with him in Philly. Not as the be all, end all like last year but as a second line center I think he'd be awesome. Only problem is who gets shipped out for the salary dump.

The second only problem is his health. Does he make it through the rest of the season in reasonable health ?

Different circumstance. Scott and Selanne were not active by their own choosing, in contimplating retirement. Forsberg has been recovering from his umteenth ankle surgery - and is on more an injury leave - not personal leave.

Well i dont know for teemu, but for scotty there were a lot of reports suggesting he had an injury that why he didnt make his decision earlier.

I didn't read any of those reports, nor do I recall seeing any of those get released. Everything I read was to the affect of him trying to decide if he still had the passion for the game, after going out at the pinnacle.

Scott was nursing an injury that could have ended his playing days ...

Teemu wanted to be near his wife .. (she was having a hard time carrying her child)..

Forsberg's a mess. He's not going to stay healthy wherever he goes. The question is, will you be able to get a high quality of play out of him for the few games you'll actually be able to keep him in the lineup?

Colorado has plenty of cap room, and space to put him, and they seem to be doing fine even with all their injury problems. With Sakic, Smyth, and Stastny all coming back for the playoffs, I think Colorado is the only team that can safely sign Foppa to the contract hes most likely looking for. Cause they will be fine with or without him.

If I was Forsberg, I'd stay as far away from Colorado as possible what with the injury avalanche they have going there...
