Flyers' Wayne Simmonds Out Indefinitely with Concussion

Quote:
PHILADELPHIA -- Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said forward Wayne Simmonds sat out Saturday's game against the Carolina Hurricanes due to a concussion he sustained during Friday's game against the Washington Capitals.

Holmgren said there was no timetable for Simmonds' return to the lineup.

That sucks to hear. Pretty dirty elbow by Erskine. Could set up for a good game next time the Caps and Fylers plays.

It'd be a game too late, they had 2.5 periods to answer for Simmonds. Simmonds would've gone against anybody for anybody.

This is really annoying news to hear. Simmonds has remained my favorite player despite playing for Philly. Hope he isn't out long.

That's what annoys me the most. Laviolette no doubt told the boys that it was over when Rinaldo beat up Hendricks. Not even close. Simmonds would go to bat for anyone against almost anyone. Erskine needs to be taken to task. That was as dirty and intentional as they come.

Methinks Erskine was probably just set to rather take up the penalty on himself, a minor or maybe double or even five + game, instead of losing the puck like that (struggling for a place in the lineup that he is), for such a bright and shiny blatant elbow but instead his act went unseen by these intermittently blind refs and the issue of course then slips to Shanaban. Which in my opinon is too bad, both the suspension and Simmonds' unfortunate concussion alike. I would've liked to see Erskine get back to fighting already.

Damn

Only good thing: Could open up room for Shelley against Parros on Thursday because Lavy's lineups suck ass

But this sucks.

I hate to see an old-school type player out with a concussion. Guy plays hard and gets knocked out with a cheap shot.

Simmonds IS my favorite Flyer currently playing. This blows. He is pretty tough though so it may not be that long hopefully.

Unfortunately this team needs a swift kick in the ass! How bout a trade?

I propose Voracek, Laughton and Bryz to Calgary for Iginla (UFA), Bouwmeester and Kiprusoff.

Any takers?

It's the Time, play, score logic. The Flyers are off to a shaky start. They lose Simmonds for the game, then Rinaldo.

in a tight game u need to win you don't do stupid ****.

They play two other times. I would hope they address it before the year is over.

Hockey players have long memories.

You almost got to be mad if your Simmer. You go out there and stand up for you teammates regardless of the situation ( Fighting with the stitches last year) and not one person goes after the guy? Its a joke

That's ***** talk. He should of got Donald Brashear'd. At the end of the day you lost two battles, that will never change no matter how many more times you play.

Sucks for Philly. I like Simmonds a lot. Hope for a speedy recovery and an interesting Simmonds vs Erskine fight in the future...

You can call it ***** talk all you want. Its reality. Its what has taken place in the NHL time and time again. Things don't always get addressed immediatley.

Laviolette sucks.

When is Snyder and Clarke going to wake up and broom this focking guy.

This isn't the Flyer's team I grew up loving, an elbow to a teammate would have really cost the offender, they would have jumped the boards in the 70's for retribution, Dave Brown would have beheaded someone in the 80's, and someone would have done something in the 90's, 00's, but this idiot comes along and takes all the passion out of the team and let's shyt like this happen.

Sorry, Rinaldo was NOT a response, how can this pinhead not know that?

Add in the fact that Philly is playing like turds and I can only wonder how this douche keeps his job.

Totally blatant and dirty hit by Erskine, 3 games is not enough if they really want to rid the game of these type of hits.

Tough for Simmonds. I think he is a good young player that gets you points, gets other teams off their game, and would stick up for his mates without question. In every game I saw him play against the Hawks, I know he played us tough.

Hope heals quickly and completely.
